Design Case Studies
3D Print can show its true capabilities when given a challenge. Soho Hospitality Group in Tokyo and The Rockwell Group, New York approached 3D Print and Display to make a unique feature in a top Sushi restaurant within in Nomura Corporations new flagship building in the Roppongi Hills District of Tokyo.
Working with architects and interior designers, 3D Print and Display came up with a concept that integrated laser illuminated display holograms with a proposed interior waterfall feature.
The concept was realised as 3 holographic panels, each 75 cm X 50 cm suspended from a bridge that ran through the restaurant. The laser illumination, delivered via fibre-optic was installed beneath the bridge, invisible to customers.
The holographic panels contained images of beautifully made models such that the viewer could see fish magically floating in the water.
The project was a resounding success, attracting crowds in the restaurant and press coverage at the launch.
The project was a perfect case of integrated holographic design with architecture and interior design.
